Planner
Planner transforms Blueprints into structured, actionable Work Orders. It’s the project management hub of Software Factory — breaking down architecture into tasks, assigning ownership, and generating codebase-aware implementation plans.
Convert Blueprint sections into Work Orders automatically or manually
Assign tasks and track their lifecycle
Generate detailed implementation plans with AI assistance
Organize and sequence work for iteration planning
Learn how to use Planner step by step in this short video:
A completed Blueprint from Foundry.
Create Work Orders – Use “Create with AI” to auto-generate Work Orders from all Blueprint sections, or manually create them with descriptions
Edit Work Orders – Each Work Order includes a description, linked Blueprint section, and an optional implementation plan. Use AI to generate plans that reference specific files in your codebase
Assign & Track – Move Work Orders through the lifecycle: Backlog → Ready → In Progress → Review → Completed. Assign to team members and monitor progress in real time
Plan Iterations – Use the Iteration Planning Agent to group and sequence Work Orders into sprints or batches
A set of actionable, code-aware Work Orders assigned to your team.
Open Planner after finishing your Blueprint
Click Create with AI → Work Orders are generated for each feature, linked to their Blueprint sections
To add something not captured automatically, click Create Work Order → fill in title + description, connect to a Blueprint section, and write or generate an implementation plan
Select a Work Order (e.g., “Login System”) → view description, related Blueprint section, PRD detail, and draft implementation plan
Edit details directly in the side panel, or use AI to refine the implementation plan once title/description are set
Assign the Work Order to a teammate and mark it “Ready”
Use the Iteration Planning Agent to group tasks for the next sprint
If the Blueprint updates, use Create with AI again to incrementally add or update Work Orders
AI-Powered Extraction – Generate Work Orders directly from Blueprints
Manual Creation – Add custom Work Orders and link them to Blueprint sections
Implementation Planning – AI generates tactical guidance with file-level changes
Status Lifecycle – Backlog, Ready, In Progress, Review, Completed
Assignment & Filtering – Track by assignee, status, or related section
Work Orders not generating? → Ensure your Blueprint is complete and Feature Nodes are up to date.
Implementation Plan button is greyed out? → Fill in the Work Order’s title and description first.
Work Orders missing links to Blueprint? → Use “Connect to Blueprint” in the Work Order editor.
Always connect Work Orders to Blueprint sections to preserve project graph integrity
Let AI generate first-pass implementation plans, then refine them with senior engineer input
Use the Iteration Planning Agent to balance workload across the team
Keep Work Orders small and self-contained to simplify reviews
If you run into bugs or see something off, report it using the In-Product Feedback button so the team can investigate and fix it
